Manifesto

SPAINNAB
#PATHTOIMPACT

What is the impact
economy?

The impact economy pursues the development of a new economic model that, in addition to considering the risk and return variables inherent to any public or private investment, also incorporates the impact factor, always seeking to generate a positive, measurable, and transparent socio-environmental impact.

Who is the manifesto for?

The manifesto is addressed to all individuals and institutions within the investment, business, and third-sector communities, as well as Public Administration, who wish to do their part in driving the impact economy in Spain.

IN WHAT context
WAS THE MANIFESTO LAUNCHED?

From October 2 to 3, 2023, coinciding with the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, the GSG Global Impact Summit was held in Malaga, the world’s leading conference for the promotion of the Impact Economy.

In this context, with the aim of elevating the conversation about the Impact Economy before Spanish and European public and private institutions, SpainNAB launches the #PathToImpact Manifesto.

We must act now!
There has never been a greater need nor a better time

Why promote an impact economy?

Imagine a world where inequality is reduced, natural resources are regenerated, and people can reach their full potential and benefit from shared prosperity based on sustainability, equal opportunities, and equity within the framework of coexistence between public and private initiatives.

An economic model focused not only on minimizing harm but on generating a positive impact through the responsible, effective, and efficient use of available resources.

This is the impact economy; everyone has a role to play in it.

What will our role be?

As consumers

Let us be aware of our real consumption needs. Let us buy products and services that help improve people’s quality of life, especially the most vulnerable, and that foster social inclusion, diversity, universal accessibility, and the protection of our planet.

As savers and investors
in investment funds, pension funds, or any other investment or savings vehicle such as ethical banking: Let us demand that our financial advisors and asset managers recommend or allocate assets to sustainable and impact investments.
As business owners and entrepreneurs

Let us promote social economy enterprises, build purpose-driven companies, and drive innovative projects and businesses that generate, measure, and manage positive impact consistently with the Sustainable Development Goals.

As foundations, NGOs, and social economy entities
Let us adopt the use of new financial instruments complementary to other forms of philanthropy and public subsidies, which promote schemes for the provision and financing of social services, such as social impact bonds.
As public administration managers
Let us drive new programs and public policies that facilitate the growth of impact investing in its various forms, such as blended finance, fostering public-private collaboration based on transparency and equity.
As universities and academia
Let us develop education, training, and research programs that promote knowledge of the impact economy, and drive specialized training in impact measurement and management.
As media outlets

Let us take on the fundamental role of spreading and popularizing the impact economy, raising awareness of the initiatives of all stakeholders and reporting, truthfully and objectively, on the efforts made and the achievements attained.

As a society
Let us raise awareness and educate on the responsible use of resources, support policies and reforms that foster equality and social inclusion, and participate in citizen movements and initiatives that promote environmental protection and social justice.
